Perfect Day for a Nature Walk

Now that the weather has finally cooled off and the tick/mosquito population has begun to recede somewhat, it was the perfect day to go on a nature walk.  So we drove up to one of our favorite trails out behind a local elementary school and got to it.

Gorgeous, isn't it?

Syd's getting old enough so that she gets embarassed when I take a thousand pictures of her.

She is not, however, too self-conscious to throw out a Superman pose for the camera.

There were hawks circling overhead, probably enjoying the nice weather as much as we were.

The creek was extremely low from the drought.

One of the reasons I love this path is because it feels so wide open.

These things were everywhere, like weird, hollow pears.  Anyone know what they are?
