Summer Quarter Educational Goals

One of the best ideas I've come across since we began our homeschooling journey is to not just divide Sydney's year into quarters of study, but my own.  I love that idea because I do tend to get involved deeply in subjects for a few months, then move on to something else.

For this summer's quarter (well, I'm calling it summer but it's going to start now) here's what we're going to be doing:

Sydney's Goals
  • Study the human body- skeleton, muscles, and organs
  • Continue learning to read and write
  • Finish Saxon K Math
  • Learn to swim
My Goals
  • Learn to use my sewing machine, and to make a few basic things including a skirt and a grocery tote
  • Learn to do basic embroidery
  • Learn to do basic bicycle repair myself
  • Study CSS and website design
I've been meaning to learn to sew for, oh, about four years now, but life kept getting in the way, as did having a toddler who likes to grab at things like bobbing needles.  Now that she's old enough to understand not to touch the sewing machine, I'm really excited to get going on this.  If I get a lot of basic stuff down, I'm going to reward myself with a new sewing machine this fall.

Those sound great! I love to sew but seem to do it in spurts. I hope you post pictures of your projects!
I may have said this before, but I wanted to be sure and say it again: I love your blog name!

I promise that if the item is at all recognizable, I will post pictures. ;) Friday is payday, so I'm planning to go pick up the fabric I'll need to make a cute hippie skirt. Fingers crossed!

And thanks for the compliment about my blog name! I'm glad it doesn't come across as totally nonsensical. :)
